The Hickey House is just outside the Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia, where more than 3 million visitors each year enjoy the scenic beauty and leisurely lifestyle of the North Georgia Mountains. The village offers river tubing, zip lining and miniature golf.

Unicoi State Park is a mile away, and the Chattahoochee National Forest is within walking distance. One of the best trout-fishing spots in the state, according to Georgia Outdoor Magazine, is just a stone’s throw away in the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River.  

The 1998 National Championship Course for mountain biking is directly accessible from the Hickey House. Many other trails are also located in the national forest and state parkThe Appalachian Trail is nearby. Various other hiking trails of numerous lengths and difficulties are plentiful in the area.

For avid golfers, the area offers four golf courses and a driving range.  U.S. Army Rangers use nearby Mount Yonah as a training facility to rappelling and mountaineering, and the location is open for public use. The truly adventurous can attempt hang gliding there.
